We invent our opinions of people based on our own needs, prejudices, and expectations. What we think about others says as much about us as it does about them. For public figures, this "invention effect" is even more pronounced because the only way we know them is as figures of our imagination.

I don't think I ever worked harder at any match during my career to get runs as I did then, nor did I ever have to face in one game such consistently fast bowlers as the Australian pair, Gregory and McDonald.

Our government has made a number of promises to the men and women who served in our nation's armed forces. Sadly, these promises of health care, education and other benefits have existed more in rhetoric than in reality.

I am grateful to Obama for showing my community the way to participate in our democracy. Having set the precedent, he has changed forever the way that elections will be run. His campaign has united people of widely divergent demographics in common goals. I feel like I am no longer one feeble voice mumbling my thoughts. Obama has tuned up many voices in my neighborhood, and has persuaded us to sing in harmony.
